3 Signs You’re Experiencing “Toleration Overload” and What to Do About It
Why are so many high functioning women running on empty?
There are a lot of reasons, probably millions of we look at the fine details. But one main reason is toleration overload.
It’s when you go through life “tolerating” instead of “consciously choosing.”
Toleration overload is when you reach a point where you’ve been tolerating so many things that you don’t want to have to tolerate and your nervous system starts to push back, saying “Enough!”
So what are the signs you’re hitting toleration overload?
You no longer have patience when you’re being asked to compromise.
You find yourself dreading or avoiding obligations.
You feel tired or exhausted and don’t remember the last time you felt like your time belonged to you. You have little or no time to yourself.
This is actually great news, because now that you realize you’re approaching “toleration overload,” you can start getting your time, energy and life back.
It’s a process, and doesn’t just happen overnight, but on the other side is:
Freedom from people pleasing
Restored mental, physical and emotional energy.
Joy, happiness and love for yourself and others.
Meaningful work and relationships.
The first step in the process of recovering from “toleration overload” is to start becoming aware of everything you’ve been tolerating instead of consciously choosing.
To start, make a list of everything you are tolerating that you wish you didn’t have to tolerate. Keep it as an ongoing list that you can add to throughout your days and week.
