4 Things I Wish Every Woman Facing a Crossroads Knew about Self-Doubt Sooner
When you’re facing a transition in life, the most important skill you’ll need is knowing how to trust yourself.
On the flip side, it’s self-doubt that blocks you from this self-trust. Here are four things I wish women in transitions knew about self-doubt sooner.
4 Things to Know about Self-Doubt
1. Your body is highly intelligent.
Your body is a perfectly designed machine. It knows the truth about your life and your decisions before your conscious brain realizes it.
But when you constantly push through, ignoring the little signals that your body tells you about certain people, decisions, or what your body is needing, you miss out on crucial information for your well-being. Your body knows the truth.
What is your body trying to tell you that you have been avoiding?
2. You have perfect intuition.
We live in a noisy world. It’s so noisy, and full of conflicting messages about everything that it is almost impossible to hear your perfect intuition. Each day you are bombarded with (fear-based) messages that cause conflict, fear and self-doubt. But if you get quiet enough, you’ll be able to hear your intuition.
What would your intuition tell you if you got quiet enough to listen to it?
3. You were taught to doubt yourself.
We have all been conditioned to doubt ourselves. This starts at an early age when we are taught to “behave” or listen to authority figures. You were taught to override yourself and what you really want in order to achieve what you “should” achieve.
Who have you been listening to as an authority instead of yourself?
4. You don’t really doubt yourself, you just have a habit of believing that others know more than you do.
I’m convinced that self-doubt is just a habit. It’s a habit of overriding your inner knowing because you are told that it is a safer option to trust others than to trust yourself. This is just a habit, and it can be changed.
Learning to trust yourself is the #1 skill that you can learn to turn any transition or turning point into the best adventure of your life. Self-trust IS the journey.
