5 Signs You Are Staying Too Long
Are you staying too long in an identify that isn’t really you?
Most of the women I work with have spent the first part of their lives creating the perfect career, relationship, family, and lifestyle. They are more than capable of making things happen for themselves and for everyone else around them. It’s a life built on “shoulds.”
When we are younger, we build our lives based on what we are supposed to do, but sometimes we outgrow those things and then think we are stuck.
Most people ignore the little whispers that say “this isn’t quite it” or “I want more than this,” because it’s hard to change course when you are in the middle of a career, taking care of a family and have bills to pay.
I talk to so many women who are tired. They have worked so hard building everything, and it’s really scary to think about changing directions at this point. Does that mean you have to give up everything you’ve worked so hard to build? No! But it can feel that way, so it’s easier to ignore the whispers and instead feel the slow sad feeling of a dimming light.
Here are 5 signs you’re staying to long in an identity that isn’t yours any longer.
1. You can’t remember what you want anymore.
Your life is about everyone else and all the responsibilities you agreed to years ago, and you have forgotten what you wanted, and you aren’t sure what you want now.
2. Your energy feels depleted.
Things that used to feel normal, now feel depleting. You feel stretched too thin.
3. You sweat the small stuff now.
When something bothered you before, you ignored it or didn’t address it. But now, you need to speak up when something bothers you.
4. Or else, you just don’t care.
Now you may find yourself not caring about things that used to take a lot of your energy. This can be freeing, but it may also make you wonder what has shifted.
5. You are ready for something new.
You aren’t sure what that “something new” is, but you feel ready for it to come into your life. It may be a new project or career shift, or something else entirely. But you feel like you are ready to start a new chapter.
If this is you, I can help you. Schedule a call and we will get to the root of it all. We will talk about what’s going on with you now, in every area of your life. And then we will talk about what you’d like your life to look like, and what you think is stopping you. And you’ll leave the call with a clear picture of what you’d like to do. And it’s fun. And you’ll love having someone listen to just you for one hour. That’s something that most people don’t get to have in their busy days. But I will listen to you fully because this is my favorite work to do.
