5 Ways Survival Mode Blocks Your Flow

Have you ever noticed that when you are stressed or struggling the most, it’s hardest to connect with your intuition?

When you are stressed or struggling, your brain and body go into a form of survival mode. Its focus is on your survival.

But when the focus is on survival, your brain feels stress. So much stress that you won’t be able to think clearly, focus, or be in the relaxed state that is required to listen to your intuition or be in a flow state.

The intuitive flow state is where creativity and ease happens.

This happens a lot to women who are trying to balance everything in life, including taking care of children, families, and a career that has taken decades to build. Then, add the hormone shifts of perimenopause to that, which can include insomnia, heart palpitations, and being thrown off balance in every way, and it can be almost impossible to get into a calm enough state to be able to hear your intuitive voice.

Here are 5 ways being in survival mode blocks your flow:

1. Your body has trouble calming down enough to get into restorative sleep.

2. You may feel overly emotional or on edge.

3. You may have trouble concentrating or focusing.

4. You may feel exhausted but also unable to relax at the same time.

5. You may feel like you’re just “getting through” your days instead of feeling creative and accomplishing enjoyable things.

If you feel like you are in survival mode, you probably are. This kind of extreme stress happens a lot, especially to women who are navigating hormonal changes. And most just push on through without realizing that there are solutions.

The solutions involve figuring out the root of the stress, both physically, mentally and emotionally, and then making a plan to take care of your nervous system. Once you realize what the root of the stress is, it’s easy to get your life back.
