3 Ways to Stop Wasting Time

3 Ways to Stop Wasting Time

What is your relationship with time? And if you don’t like it, how can you change it?

When I was “stuck” in a job that I didn’t want to be in anymore, I felt like I never had enough time outside of work. But during the workday, I was constantly watching the clock, wishing for time to go faster.

It felt so stressful to wish my time away like that, and then always be in a rush outside of the workday.

That was when I knew it had to change. I didn’t want to wish away any hours or minutes of my life anymore. And I didn’t want to feel rushed or hurried when I wasn’t at work.

Here are 3 ways I stopped wasting my time.

1. I changed the situation I was stuck in. It was really hard to leave the safety of a career that I could have just stayed in until retirement. But I decided that I never wanted to dread any part of my days ever again, and I never wanted to wish the time would go faster. I promised myself to never wish away any seconds of my life again.

2. I slowed down. Whenever I felt that pressure of being in a hurry, I stopped. I slowed down. Why was I in a hurry? Was I afraid that I was going to disappoint other people by being late for something? Usually, it was a false deadline, and I did have the choice to slow down.

3. I eliminated obligation overload and over-responsibility. I slowed down and realized I had been taking on more responsibilities than I wanted to take on, but felt too guilty to say no.

You have enough time. But when you feel like you don’t have enough, it will feel rushed, and you will feel hurried and stressed.

Just try slowing down for one day and see what happens to your relationship with time.
